Product Description
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose is a sodium salt of cellulose carboxymethyl ether. It is an anionic cellulose ether. It is a white or milky white fibrous powder or granule with a density of 0.5-0.7 g/cm3. It is almost odorless and tasteless. Hygroscopicity. It is easy to disperse in water to form a transparent colloidal solution and is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. The pH of the 1% aqueous solution is 6.5-8.5. When the pH is >10 or <5, the viscosity of the cement is significantly lowered, and the performance is optimal at pH=7. For heat stability, the viscosity rises rapidly below 20 C, and the temperature changes slowly at 45 C. The long-term heating above 80 C can denature the colloid and the viscosity and performance are significantly reduced. Soluble in water, the solution is transparent; it is stable in alkaline solution, it is easy to be hydrolyzed when it is acid, and precipitation will occur when the pH is 2-3, and precipitation will occur in the case of polyvalent metal salts.
